ANIMEPEDIA- Dari sebuah panel manga sederhana di majalah Weekly Shonen Jump pada 22 Juli 1997, One Piece menjelma menjadi fenomena budaya global. Karya Eiichiro Oda ini mengisahkan Monkey D. Luffy, bocah nekat yang memakan buah iblis hingga tubuhnya lentur bak karet, lalu berlayar bersama kru Topi Jerami demi satu tujuan yaitu menjadi Raja Bajak Laut.
Pada 20 Oktober 1999, Toei Animation menayangkan episode perdana di Fuji TV. Petualangan Luffy dan kawan-kawan langsung memikat penonton Jepang, kemudian menyebar ke seluruh dunia. Di tengah jalan, Toei rajin menyelipkan episode “filler” demi memberi waktu Oda menggambar manga yang tiap minggunya dinanti jutaan pembaca.
Tak hanya di layar kaca, One Piece juga melebarkan layar ke bioskop. Sejak film perdana pada tahun 2000, sedikitnya 15 judul telah rilis. Beberapa sekadar hiburan non-kanon, namun ada pula yang mendapat sentuhan langsung dari Oda, seperti Strong World (2009), Film Z (2012), hingga Film Red (2022) yang mengangkat sosok Uta, putri Shanks. Film Red mencatat box office mengagumkan dan menjadi salah satu film anime terlaris sepanjang sejarah.
