KUNINGAN — Di bawah langit mendung Dusun Kliwon, Desa Kutaraja, Kecamatan Maleber, deretan petani membungkuk hampir serempak. Di tangan mereka, benih padi varietas unggul Padjadjaran masuk ke lumpur sawah satu per satu.
Tapi pemandangan itu tak hanya menampilkan rutinitas pertanian. Di antara mereka berdiri sosok birokrat, mengenakan topi caping dan celana yang dilipat setengah betis yaitu Kepala Dinas Ketahanan Pangan dan Pertanian (Diskatan) Kabupaten Kuningan, Dr. Wahyu Hidayah, M.Si.
“Ini luar biasa. Bapak-Ibu petani kompak menanam serentak. Benih ini bantuan langsung dari Pak Bupati. Target kita cukup tanam sekali, tapi panennya bisa berkali-kali.” ujar Wahyu dengan nada penuh semangat.
Bukan sekadar retorika musim tanam. Tanam serentak yang digelar pada Selasa, (10/6/2025) itu membawa misi besar yaitu memperkuat kemandirian pangan dari akar rumput. Pemerintah daerah melalui Diskatan tak lagi cukup bekerja dari balik meja. Mereka turun ke lumpur, ikut menanam, ikut berharap.
Program ini menjadi bagian dari strategi panjang Pemkab Kuningan dalam memperkuat ketahanan pangan lokal. Dan benih Padjadjaran bukan sembarang benih. Ia digadang-gadang sebagai varietas unggul yang tahan hama, cepat panen, dan cocok untuk lahan dengan pasokan air sepanjang tahun.
Namun sorotan utama bukan hanya varietas. Metode tanam Salibu yang diperkenalkan pada momen itu menjadi cerita tersendiri. Salibu, singkatan dari “Satu Kali Tanam, Berkali Panen”, adalah teknik regenerasi tunas dari batang sisa panen. Praktis, hemat benih, dan menjanjikan hingga tujuh kali panen tanpa tanam ulang.
“Ini terobosan besar. Teknologi pertanian harus kita dekati dengan akal sehat, lebih efisien, lebih berkelanjutan.” Ujar Wahyu.
