JAKARTA – Dikutip dari cnbcindonesia.com Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN) mengungkap fakta mencengangkan, tanah di sejumlah wilayah Indonesia, khususnya di Pantai Utara Jawa, terus mengalami penurunan setiap tahun bahkan hingga 10 sentimeter per tahun.
Yang lebih mengejutkan, fenomena ini bukan akibat gempa atau longsor, melainkan proses “diam-diam tapi mematikan” akibat pengambilan air tanah berlebihan, tanah lunak, dan beban bangunan yang terus meningkat.
“Penurunan tanah merupakan ancaman serius, terutama di wilayah Pantai Utara Jawa seperti Jakarta, Pekalongan, dan Sayung, Demak,” ungkap Periset Pusat Riset Geoinformatika BRIN, Joko Widodo dalam unggahan di akun media sosial resmi BRIN, dikutip Jumat (10/10/2025).
BRIN menyebut kondisi ini sebagai “Silent Killer” alias pembunuh senyap, karena dampaknya tidak langsung terasa namun berakibat fatal, bangunan retak, jalan amblas, dan rob yang makin sering menghantam permukiman pesisir.
BRIN menggunakan teknologi canggih Persistent Scatterer Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PS-InSAR) untuk memantau pergerakan tanah dengan presisi hingga skala milimeter per tahun.
Hasilnya mengejutkan, Jakarta Utara mengalami penurunan tanah sekitar 5–6 cm per tahun.
Di Muara Baru, tanah kini berada 2,4 meter di bawah permukaan laut saat pasang.
Pekalongan bahkan lebih ekstrem, 10–19 cm per tahun, dengan beberapa titik telah turun 1 meter dalam 8 tahun terakhir!
