KUNINGAN – Pemerintah Kabupaten Kuningan resmi meluncurkan Batik Kamuning sebagai batik khas daerah, bertepatan dengan momen Hari Jadi Kuningan ke-526 yang jatuh pada 1 September 2024. Batik ini diharapkan menjadi simbol baru identitas budaya Kuningan sekaligus penggerak ekonomi warga.
Motif utama Batik Kamuning adalah bunga kamuning (Murraya paniculata), yang diangkat dari nilai historis dan kearifan lokal. Nama “Kamuning” merujuk pada pohon yang diyakini tumbuh subur di sekitar kediaman tokoh sejarah Sunan Maulana Jati atau Syekh Syarif Hidayatullah, dan istrinya Putri Ong Tien. Dalam naskah kuno Purwaka Caruban Nagari, anak pasangan tersebut disebut memiliki nama kecil Raden Kamuning.
“Batik Kuningan selama ini terkesan hanya digunakan kalangan PNS. Sekarang waktunya batik ini kembali ke masyarakat,” kata Pj Sekda Kuningan Asep Taufik Rohman, dalam konferensi pers launching Batik Kamuning, Senin (12/8).
Peluncuran Batik Kamuning juga menandai babak baru pengembangan industri kreatif lokal. Sebanyak 8 motif batik telah mendapatkan sertifikat hak paten, dengan unsur khas seperti ikan dewa, kuda, bokor, dan tentu saja bunga kamuning.
