KUNINGAN – Ketua Badan Pengawas Pemilu (Bawaslu) RI, Rahmat Bagja, hadir sebagai pemateri dalam Intermediate Training (LK II) Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam (HMI) Cabang Kuningan, yang digelar di Aula Sajati BKPSDM Kuningan, Kamis (6/2/2025).
Alumni Universitas Indonesia dan HMI Cabang Depok itu membawakan materi bertema Transformasi Demokrasi Indonesia, membahas perkembangan demokrasi pasca-Reformasi 1998 serta tantangan dan prospek masa depan demokrasi di Indonesia.
“Indonesia telah mengalami transformasi demokrasi yang signifikan sejak era Reformasi. Salah satu pilar utama demokrasi kita adalah penyelenggaraan Pemilu secara berkala setiap lima tahun, baik Pilpres, Pileg, maupun Pilkada. Ini adalah mekanisme penting untuk menjamin rotasi kekuasaan dan akuntabilitas kepemimpinan,” jelas pria yang akrab disapa Kanda RB itu.
Rahmat Bagja juga menekankan pentingnya prinsip-prinsip demokrasi seperti pembatasan kekuasaan, pemisahan kekuasaan (legislatif, eksekutif, yudikatif), dan penghormatan terhadap hak asasi manusia (HAM).
Namun, ia mengakui bahwa tantangan demokrasi di Indonesia masih cukup kompleks.
